Black and white historical photograph of artist Danny Perkins standing atop a wooden platform, blowing into a long metal glassblowing pipe. Below, the glowing molten glass is lowered into a tall triangular wooden mold emitting heat or steam

“I'm trying to do honest work with emotion coming out; not a ‘heart on your sleeve,’ kind of thing, but the reality that life is hard and you can be beaten up by it, or you can have hope.’

In a world that often feels chaotic, Danny Perkins is drawn to creating a sense of order, seen through the use of a horizon line, which also gives the viewer an accessible entry into the work. Important to Perkins in his abstractions is communicating drama, action and hope, always hope.
